π³οΈβπ Coachβs Corner
A space for reflection, mindset shifts, and real talk about being a young athlete today.
Hi, Iβm Coach K β founder of ATHLETEKIND Performance and your guide in this journey of strength, confidence, and becoming.
Coachβs Corner is where I share thoughts, tools, and stories that donβt always fit inside a training session. It's for athletes, parents, and anyone who believes that growth in sport should never come at the cost of who you are.
This isnβt just about workoutsβitβs about:
Showing up fully, even on off days
Building confidence that sticks
Navigating sport as LGBTQ+ youth
Talking about the hard stuff: burnout, identity, and pressure
Learning how to rest, reframe, and re-enter stronger
Letβs dig in.

1. Progress Looks Like This
So often, we think progress means lifting more weight or winning more games. But this week, progress looked like:
Showing up to a session after a hard day
Trying again after missing a rep
Asking a question you were scared to ask
If youβre measuring progress only by stats or scores, you're missing the magic.
Whatβs one βsmallβ win you can celebrate today?
2. Confidence is a Skill β Not a Trait
Confidence isn't something you're born with. Itβs something you practice, like a skill.
We build it with:
Repetition
Positive self-talk (even if it feels awkward at first)
Reflecting on what weβve already done that was hard
Confidence is not loud. Sometimes, it's quiet belief. And it gets stronger when you train it on purpose.
3. When Sport Doesnβt Feel Safe
Too many young athletesβespecially LGBTQ+ youthβhave had moments where sport felt unsafe or unwelcoming. Thatβs real.
But I want you to know:
π³οΈβπ You deserve to be in spaces where you're fully seen.
β½ You donβt have to change who you are to be taken seriously.
π¬ Youβre allowed to ask for support, take breaks, or restart.
ATHLETEKIND exists because I never want you to feel like you're training for someone else's approval.
